In an ad hoc story based on Homeric themes Telemachus (male) became shipwrecked whilst looking for his father:Odysseus. Whilst stranded on Calypso's Island he falls in love with Eucharis (female.) After follying in the bushes Telelmachus must leave Eucharis to fulfill his original duty and find his father. This painting depicts the sorrowful goodbye. Now I was taught about this image by the amazing queer theorist Satish Padiyar. And whatta one for the guys it is! Fraternal devotion rules over heterosexual desire. He flips the outside world the v and connects their curly brains one last time as she clings to him trying to be all nymphish and sexy in her barely there pinnie. Then zoom - he's using her knee to jerk himself up and outta there.
LOVE SUCKS Eucharis...but there'll be others.
